About Us
The African Youth and Adolescents’ Network on Population and Development (AfriYAN) Ghana is the national chapter of its African regional network aimed at creating a common platform for all adolescent and youth-led and -focused organisations to work collaboratively towards advancing priority population and development issues through policy advocacy, awareness creation, capacity building and partnership.
AfriYAN in Ghana has been in operations since November 2017 as a youth-led and voluntary advocacy coordination space for adolescent and youth-led organizations working on population and development issues. Due to its unique volunteer-based and advocacy-focused design,

AfriYAN Ghana was established originally as Kerapa in 2009. It was re-established and rebranded in 2017 by a task team set up and led by Edith Esinam Asamani and Brilliant Edudzi Dziko. It was launched in November 2017 by its first set of ten member organisations, and with support from UNFPA Ghana.

The General Assembly comprises of member organisations in good standing with the Network. AfriYAN Ghana currently has membership of over thirty youth-led organisations.

Projects are run separately by the Secretariat in partnership with member organisations.

Equal respect and opportunities for all. Fair gender, geographical, disability and age (adolescents and youth) representation in all affairs.

Meaningful engagement of and collaboration with young people and all relevant stakeholders in the affairs of the Network.
